Norwegian pop sensation Line Mari is set to release her debut album ‘21 Days’

Norwegian pop sensation Line Mari is set to release her debut album ‘21 Days’ on Friday 16th December.

The album is a refreshing break from the usual pop music culture. As a whole, Line Mari’s powerful collection of harmonies delivers a unique electro-pop sound, with a rock infused edged. One particular highlight is Line Mari’s most recent single ‘Haters’ which sees Line Mari laying her gorgeously wispy vocals over brooding pianos before erupting into a soaring chorus to a backdrop of tropical-tinged synths.

Line Mari was born in Tromsø, also living for some time in Svalbard, one of the most Northernly inhabited places in the world. As a child, she grew up regularly witnessing the beauty of the Northern Lights, as well as once having a close encounter with a polar bear whilst at Kindergarten. Line Mari dreamt of being a musician from birth, dancing in the womb as her mother explains. Although shy at first, by the time she was in her teens Line Mari was writing her own songs and performing. Her shyness has fuelled her songwriter, making her lyrics more personal, emotive and introspective.

Vocally Gifted Chey and ‘Dirty Love’

Hailing from the valleys of Wales, the talented singer-songwriter, Chey, is here with her storming debut single ‘Dirty Love’.

The track is a seductive, sultry piece of indie-pop combining heartfelt lyricism and enticing melodies, reminiscent of a lot of 90s alternative pop music.

Diversifying the music industry and creating an amalgamation of styles and genres, Chey certainly does not take a shy approach. “Dirty Love was written in the heat of the moment; having feelings about someone else can sometimes be the trigger you need to move on from the relationship you’re in. I recorded the vocals the same day it was written, to reflect the emotion I was feeling at that time, I wanted the single to be raw and edgy and convey as much passion as possible.”

Dirty Love adopts a unique view upon a love affair where the woman is in complete control of what happens. Speaking on the track Chey says “I wanted this song to emphasise the power of a woman and how she uses her sexuality to get what she wants.” Having had previous support from Chris Needs MBE (BBC Wales), Chey hopes her new single will captivate audiences with its alluring and distinct sound.

‘Dirty Love’ is set for release in January 2017.

Stevie Parker’s atmospheric love songs

The up and coming Bristol-based singer-songwriter, Stevie Parker, is making a name for herself with the release of her first EP ‘Blue’.

Her music is ambient, touching and deeply emotive. There are hints of The XX in there but in terms of vocals, Stevie’s are soft and delicate, almost whispering over the top of the tremolo-ed synths on ‘The Cure’.

She says the EP is devoted to ‘feeling s**t’ as it was written at the end of a relationship – ‘Nothing questions your relationship with yourself more than your relationship with someone else’. Consequently, ‘The Cure’ is a real tear-jerker of a track, but it exemplifies Stevie at her songwriting best.

After being put in the backseat of many bands in the past, Stevie is finally taking centre stage, and deservedly so. She’s without a doubt one to look out for in the future.

Stevie’s EP Blue is out now on Virgin EMI

Beyonce releases badass video to ‘Sorry’ from Lemonade

After high expectations and excitement for Beyonce’s innovative and empowering album Lemonade, all about the ups and downs of a relationship, focusing on the key factors of infidelity to forgiveness, the video for ‘Sorry’ has been released.

Beyonce perfectly embodies her Sasha Fierce persona, with her fiery lyrics focusing purely on putting “middle fingers up” and featuring the song in the chapter of apathy. This simply represents the strength that she has, showing her new found indifference to Jay-Z after his alleged affairs. The beauty that she captures in the footage builds on celebrating the power of women, by only having women feature in the video, and using the intimacy of her African roots, using images of ethnic tribal makeup and patterns. Actions of worship are present, elevating both herself and women overall, once more emphasising her origins and leaving viewers thirsty for Lemonade.

The punchy drum beat makes this song unapologetic and her cutting and knowing smile at 4:30 proves she is ready to say “boy, bye”.

Being filmed in black and white focuses on the simplicity of her decision and the courage it takes for one to make it through this experience. Beyonce herself said she wanted Serena Williams in the video as she felt the “personification of strength” she puts forward was perfect for this song.

With ‘Sorry’ being the first stand-alone video taken from her hour long visual album, it is clear Beyonce is able to show her fans how to successfully get given lemons and make lemonade.

Perfect new single ‘Leave Me To Me’ by Karmilla

“The instrumentation and arrangements on the album are sophisticated and provide the perfect complement to Camilla’s clever lyrics and her sometimes poignant, sometimes powerful vocal delivery.” – Nick Dent Robinson

Championing a raw and genuine style of songwriting, her music explores a mix of environmental, personal and political themes rarely encountered in today’s modern rock landscape.

A big supporter of local music scenes, Karmilla is known for her love of playing local gigs and festivals. She is all about the music, believing there is always a connectivity to the people who are part of it and the people who listen to it.

Already she has supported the likes of Frank Turner, playing a family run festival at the musician’s home village in 2015. Upcoming gigs include an acoustic set at Dam Fine Affair festival in Wiltshire on June 18th and another at Readipop Festival in Reading on July 8th.

Ethereal and experimental new EP ‘Circus’ from alternative pop artist Daisy and The Dark

‘Somewhere between the ghostly gliding & luscious laments of Kate Bush, the boldness of Björk and the haunting images of Kylie Minogue floating in a lake, comes Sarah Kayte Foster.’ – Backseat Mafia

‘Resplendent, bold and ambitious.  It’s her daringness to experiment  – and those ethereal, oscillating vocals – that sets Daisy and The Dark apart’ – Chart Shaker

Cinematic in atmosphere and brimming with carnivalesque creativity, Circus is the brand new exciting EP from experimental pop artist Daisy and The Dark (aka Sarah Kayte Foster).

Previously a member of classical chart-topping band the Mediaeval Baebes for five years, Sarah left the band in 2014, after charting at No. 8 in the UK Classical Charts with the double album ‘Of Kings and Angels’.

She has since poured her musical talent into a solo career as Daisy, performing theatrical shows at Secret Garden Party and the Royal Albert Hall, and releasing her 2015 debut EP ‘Red Planet’ as a new interactive app which IBM called ‘the best collaboration between music and technology I’ve seen in a long time.’   The record went on to receive a whole host of online coverage, garnering praise from the likes of SupaJam, Chart Shaker and Noizze.

Her new EP ‘Circus’ is set for release July 8th.

Stream lead single ‘Circus’ here:

A vibrant video directed by BAFTA award winning Shreepali Patel accompanies lead single and title track ‘Circus’, with cinematography coming courtesy of award-winner Nicola Daley – making it one of the few music videos to have an all female team at the helm.

Sarah’s creative energy extends beyond music and she has worked extensively as a professional actress, as well as creating artwork, videos, costume and performance art all inspired, like her songs, by her great love of cinema and magic.

Her ethereal and other-worldly style is sure to appeal to fans of artists like Kate Bush, Bjork, FKA Twigs, Bat for Lashes and David Bowie.

Circus EP will be released on July 8th via Foster’s own label, Red Planet Records, and she will play a special free show at Miranda, Ace Hotel London on July 8th to mark the release.  For limited free guest list contact info@daisyandthedark.com.
